Midland University, a private, faith based, liberal arts university is seeking a Graduate and Online Academic Advisor. The Graduate and Online Academic Advisor's primary role is to work with graduate, online, and non-traditional students throughout the application, enrollment, program of study planning, and graduation process at Midland University's Center for Graduate and Professional Studies located in Omaha, NE.


Primary responsibilities:



  • Work alongside the Recruitment team to support students from application to deposit

  • Support the planning of any student orientation events

  • Support student experience events during their program of study

  • Proactively schedule advising sessions, degree audits, and program of study (course plan) reviews for your caseload

  • Review student academic success (Watermark Retention) and communicate concerns to the student, Graduate & Online team members, and appropriate Academic Affairs teams

  • Guide students through the course registration process

  • Support students with scholarship planning, financial aid awards, billing questions, and payment plans

  • Manage and process partner student applications and programs of study

  • Advocate for existing students to continue on to additional learning opportunities at Midland


Experience, Education & Training Requirements


Desired Experience:



  • Experience in student success and/or related experience at a higher education institution

  • Proficient in office productivity tools (Microsoft Office/Google Workspace) and working knowledge of a SIS or retention tool


Education, Licensure & Certification Needed:



  • A bachelor's degree


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed:



  • An ability to make frequent and professional contacts with prospective students, partner organizations, current students, faculty and staff

  • Ability to work as a team member and independently

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • A high level of energy and enthusiasm for his or her work and an outgoing, positive attitude

  • A thorough understanding of the value of a liberal arts education


Compensation
