Clinical Nursing Faculty/Instructors


Purpose:


The Coker University Nursing Program is seeking qualified applicants for Clinical Nursing Faculty/Instructor positions beginning August 2024. Available non-tenure track positions are either 10-month or 12-month clinical positions with a competitive salary and benefits, and rank. This position reports to the Dean of Health Professions. Primary responsibilities for the position include clinical and simulation classes.




  • Master's or Doctoral degree preferred for clinical faculty position; Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience may be considered for clinical instructor position..

  • Successful teaching and preceptor experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Critical Care, Pediatric, Obstetric, or Psychiatric background preferred.

  • Licensed (or eligible) to practice as a registered nurse in South Carolina


Responsibilities:



  1. Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs:

    1. Teach 12 credits per semester of nursing clinical/simulation courses or periodic didactic courses as appropriate for position/qualifications.

    2. Assist students with advising and in developing a plan of study.

    3. Assist students with practicum placement.

    4. Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of Nursing curricula.


    5. Develop evidence-based simulation scenarios that stress clinical reasoning.


  2. Serve Nursing programs, University, community and profession:

    1. Participate in the Nursing faculty, standing committee, task force and other meetings.

    2. Participate in Faculty Senate and ad hoc committees as appropriate.

    3. Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate.

    4. Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate.

    5. Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.

    6. Advance Coker's educational mission and core values through the undergraduate nursing programs and serve as an advocate for learners at all levels.
