Position Summary






The College of Arts & Science is seeking a dynamic Academic Advisor to join the Preprofessional Advising team. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Preprofessional Advising, the Academic Adviser will advise students on prehealth, prelaw, and business studies academic performance, policies, and other learning opportunities. Special focus includes but is not limited to coordinating the administration of the Business Studies Minor, providing administrative and programmatic support to the Lawyer Alumni Mentoring Program (LAMP), the CAS-NYU Law Pathway Scholarship, and other prelaw events, assisting with enrollment management tasks for an Internship Seminar for CAS students, and serving as member of the Committee on Evaluations to Schools of the Health Professions. This staff person will liaise with other advisers across the University and maintain up to date information on trends in graduate health and legal careers. In addition, this individual will advise and counsel a significant cohort of first- and second-year students, serving as the primary advisor until they declare their major, and remaining as a support and resource person throughout their undergraduate career. This position will analyze data received through student inquiries, market research, and input and recommend new programs and courses to meet changing needs. Liaison with faculty and other University personnel, representing the Dean and the College to internal and external constituencies.









Qualifications






Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in liberal arts subject strongly preferred.

Required Experience:
2+ years experience in counseling, advising, student services, program development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in an academic environment

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to interpret and communicate policies to individuals at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.









Additional Information






In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $67,500.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
