Mechanical Engineering Faculty Member (Tenure-Track)

General Description: As a tenure-track faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering department, faculty will be expected to teach classes, mentor senior capstone projects, and frequently interact with and advise students. Additional responsibilities may include delivering chapel devotionals, supporting recruiting and accreditation efforts, and collaborating with local industries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses based upon the needs of the department and expertise of the faculty member.
- Mentor senior capstone projects
- Hold regular office hours for student aid and advisement
- Provide feedback and recommendations for students seeking employment.
- Complete formal assessment and improvement projects as a part of regular ABET accreditation processes
- Assist with general department advancement efforts, such as recruiting, industry relations, curriculum development, and fund-raising.
Primary Requirements
- Master's degree in Engineering, Ph.D. preferred.
- Preferred areas of expertise: Fluid Dynamics, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics/Automation.
- Ability to effectively communicate with undergraduate students, both in and out of the classroom.
- Must be actively engaged in a life of Christian faith and service demonstrated by conduct consistent with the OC Covenant and belief consistent with the OC Statement of Commitment, including active membership in a local church.
Reporting & Working Relationships
- Reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science
- Close collaboration with the faculty of the College of Engineering and Computer Science
